Japanese Pottery Fish Vase

This fish vase has come to me through the family, and I do remember it as a small child on great grans sideboard. But, the thing is I really don't know much about it. So maybe someone can tell me what and where it came from because i was told that it was Japanese.

It is approx 9 inches long by 4 inches high by 3 inches wide and the glaze has a blueish tint to it.

There are some marks on the base >s< dep 16849 the 's' has lines coming out of it like lighting.

It is very well modelled and very lifelike. If any one can help i would be more very grateful ............ Andy
