I purchased this antique cigar lighter from Ebay. The owner stated it had been her grandfathers and believed it to be out of an automobile. It has been modified and mounted on a wooden box with a 110 volt transformer reducing it to 12 volts.

After trying to operate it through the transformer I applied a 12 volt charge and still was unsuccessful at getting it to operate. I discovered that the coil had to be compressed to the rear in order to heat up. It works by applying pressure.

The only automobile that I can imagine it belonging in was a hearse but, the occupant would not be needing a cigar.

It has been described as either creepy or really cool and everyone has suggested that I inquire from the best minds, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?

Thank You in advance
Charles ...

Wall lighter? Can't see the mountings, so no real clue.
